AN EVENING WITH ITZHAK PERLMAN BACH A minor Violin Concerto WEBER Oberon Overture BRAHMS Symphony No. 1

Founded in 1900, The Philadelphia Orchestra has distinguished itself as one of the leading orchestras in the world through more than a century of acclaimed performances, historic international tours, best-selling recordings, and its unprecedented record of innovation in recording technologies and outreach.

The SPAC Amphitheatre was created as a nurturing environment for great art. One hundred ten feet high (the equivalent of 10 stories), it is sited in a natural, curved bowl surrounded by towering pines and sweeping lawns. The stage was designed to accommodate a full symphony orchestra, with a floor especially engineered for NYCB. Arnold H. Vollmer designed the floor honoring the wishes of George Balanchine and Lincoln Kirstein making the original floor a design marvel. With insights from Maestro Ormandy and working with a scale model and exotic testing devices, Paul S. Veneklassen designed a series of baffles and sound-reflecting surfaces to draw out the full depth of the music, making SPAC one of the world's most acoustically acclaimed outdoor performance venues.
Tickets: Beginning on Monday, August 18 tickets will be held and available for pick up at the Route 50 box office until the evening of the show. At 6pm, 8/20/14 the tickets will be available at the Hall of Springs box office (the box office closest to the patron parking lot)
