Join Kimberley A. Frederick, Professor of Chemistry, for an intriguing lecture about the sciences at Skidmore followed by a luncheon. Many of the problems facing our society including health care and wellness, global climate change and energy independence, have science at their heart. Skidmore has been mindful of how it needs to educate all students to be active, engaged citizens while taking advantage of the unique creativity that is a hallmark of Skidmore. Prof. Frederick will share the significant strides made over the past decade to strengthen the science experience for students at Skidmore. She will include an overview of the history of the sciences at Skidmore, current strengths, and the design for new and renovated science facilities, which both embodies and supports the vision for the sciences at Skidmore.
For those engaged in the design work of the science facilities, the transformational potential of this project becomes more evident each and every day. Prof. Frederick will share some examples of the innovative spaces that will help to more fully immerse students in the hands-on process of science and also foster the creative interdisciplinary collaborations that are the fabric of Skidmore. The external building views speak both to the role of the sciences in the liberal arts and Skidmore’s place among the top liberal arts schools in the country. Come hear why Skidmore is thrilled by its progress in the sciences while enjoying the company of fellow Skiddies. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity!
