Skidmore Connect - Class of 2005

Hello Class of 2005! WOW! I am so impressed with everything our class accomplished this year. In case you haven’t heard yet, we won the class competition and raised just over $11,000 that will go towards a scholarship for a deserving Skidmore student. This is especially exciting because I had the privilege of meeting the 2010-11 Class of 2005 Scholarship recipient, Lawanda Peterson ’11. She is a bright young woman who is about to embark on the Master of Social Work program at Penn State. I loved getting to know her (and yes, she informed me that Skidmore students still hang out at State Street, Excelsior and Arabella—her favorite bar is D.A.’s). I am thrilled we will once again have the opportunity to support a deserving student this year! For a more in-depth recap of every- thing our class accomplished, see the rest of the newsletter here. But for now, please accept my most sincere thanks for your support and generosity! On to other matters: The College as a whole had a banner year—12,622 members of the Skidmore community elected to support the College this year through philanthropic donations. This means that in addition to the $6.7 million raised through the Annual Fund, Skidmore will receive an extra $1,000,000 for not only meeting—but exceeding—the Challenge! We are in search of a Class Secretary. Kristen Coates did a wonderful job helping us all stay connected to each other and we are looking for someone equally as enthusiastic and dedicated to Skidmore and our class to fill her shoes. In FOSA matters, the baseball boys from our class’ senior year are being inducted into the Friends of Skidmore Athletics Hall of Fame as this year’s Team of Distinction. As many of you will remember, they missed our graduation ceremony at SPAC because they were busy winning the championship! I hope to see many of you at Skidmore on September 24 for the benefit and induction ceremony. Information will be e-mailed when it comes time to reserve your spot! Finally, please stay in touch.
