I have not been back to Skidmore for several years, alas.  I do read SCOPE regularly and I read all the letters that Skidmore sends to me.  I feel very strongly that President Glotzbach is doing a superior job.  The news of the exciting programs and inspiring philosophy is very welcoming to me.  During these troubled times we are in both nationally and globally, it is exciting to know that Skidmore offers a program of excellent financial aid to a diversified student body.  It is exciting to read of the successes of the students after graduation, that 102 student athletes were recognized members of the Thoroughbred Society for earning a grade point average of 3.76 and that of the 232 full-time faculty members, 83% hold the highest degree in their fields.

In early 2010, the new Arthur Zankel Music Center (pictured above) will open and will join the many buildings that make Skidmore the excellent facility that it is.  I believe the current Campaign slogan, Creative Thought Bold Promise, is a perfect one for Skidmore.

The current state of the economy has diminished my income and I am sure that many of you are experiencing the same sort of decrease.  However, in making a gift to Skidmore, even if it has to be smaller than in the past, you can be assured that your money will help our Alma Mater continue to be the outstanding academic institution that it is.  This year, if 10,000 members of the Skidmore family make a gift of any amount to the College by May 31, 2010, trustee Susan Kettering Williamson ’59 will celebrate this achievement by adding $1 million to her own gift to Skidmore.  I hope that you’ll join me in making a gift today.

Our 65th Reunion will be held June 3-6, 2010.  Mark your calendars now to join our class back on campus for Reunion 2010.  We all had such a great time at our 60th . . . let’s do it again for our 65th!
