Dear Class of 2008,
It is hard to believe we will be celebrating our 5th Reunion in May 2013! It seems like just yesterday we were at SCOOP, congregating on the green for Fun Day, and celebrating our  graduation at T&L and D.A.’s. But despite the time that has passed since our college days, I still feel connected to so many Skiddies and to the College itself. I am so grateful for the opportunities Skidmore has given me, and were it not for that education and experience, I would not be where I am today. As a 3L in law school, I’ve had the opportunity to clerk in the Probate and Family Court for a judge who also happens to be a Skidmore alum. Needless to say, we connected instantly because of our mutual love for the school. The relationships Skidmore creates are unique and invaluable. I am so thankful to have been a part of the community and look forward to remaining involved and supporting the school.
As we gather at Peabody’s and D.A.’s in May, we have the chance to do something really wonderful for a fellow Skiddie. Our Reunion gift will be a scholarship in honor of our friends Olivia Baccash, Timothy Pramer, and Matthew Helterline who have passed away. In tribute to them, we can help a current Skidmore student complete his or her education—a student who may not be able to attend our beloved school without our assistance.
The only way we can create this scholarship is if everyone participates. I’m writing to ask you to consider making your gift at the Friends of the Presidents (FOP) level, if possible, in order to ensure we reach our $15,000 goal—and more importantly, so that we can honor our classmates and assist a deserving student. A monthly gift of $56 ($500 by May 31) will qualify you to be an FOP. Every gift is greatly appreciated, and this is a particularly important year for us to show our support and give to a worthwhile scholarship. The perks? As an FOP, you will have access to invitation-only events, insider College news, and more networking opportunities with fellow alumni. Also, please mark your calendar for May 30 - June 2, 2013 and plan to come back to campus. I would love to see you! Our Reunion committee is busy planning a lot of great events, and you won’t want to miss out on a chance to hang out with friends in Saratoga—a place we all know and love.
