April 2013

Dear Classmates,

It’s our beginning; where we got our start. Whether your memories are of pizza bagels delivered from Sidelines, listening to music at Falstaff’s or cramming in a study group, we all remember Skidmore, our friends and the classes that inspired us.

Given the economic hardships we are facing, we can all take pride in knowing that Skidmore is now assisting all students with tuition through the Annual Fund. Forty-two percent of students are also receiving additional financial aid, and this year 82 current students received funding for summer internships in a chosen field of interest.

Skidmore has also revitalized the area of career services. All alumni and students now have access to the Career Development Center ( www.skidmore.edu/career). Jenna Hartwell, associate director of alumni career development has been hired to assist alumni of all ages with professional transitions and career transformations. Contact her at cdc@skidmore.edu. All alumni are encouraged to use this office and other benefits such as the library, Skidmore Travel Programs, and regional events in your community.

Of course, all of these achievements have been made possible by alumni who contribute to the Annual Fund. When I was a student, I thought Skidmore had all the funding it needed. But I now understand the imperative of giving back to the school to underwrite financial aid and other worthy initiatives.

I hope you will take a moment to make a gift, however small, in support of Skidmore’s mission and students. Your generosity will help us achieve our goal of providing a quality Skidmore education to every student who needs our help.
