Dear Class of 2011,

I always miss the Fall in Saratoga the most: the colors, the apple picking, and weather that is just warm enough to sit out on the green with a blanket.  And it looks like there is something else to add to that "miss list" - Fall Fun Day.  With Skidmore busy kicking off another fantastic year, here are just a couple of updates about what has been going on at our alma mater since we left:
  • The Annual Fund finished with a record $6.9 million in gifts - the most successful annual fund in the College’s history.  More than 1,000 alumni made a gift on May 1, 2012 as part of the 5/01 Challenge to set the bar as the largest number of donors in a single day. Those gifts support scholarships, athletics, collaborative research, academic programs, and other key components of the Skidmore experience.
  • 15 of 19 athletic teams made it to the post season in 2011-2012, and 97 student athletes were recently recognized as members of the Thoroughbred Society for earning a 3.67 GPA in the spring semester .
  • 82 summer internships were funded through gifts of alumni, parents, friends, The New World Foundation, SEE Beyond Academic Awards, and SGA.
  • The entering Class of 2016 is the most diverse in the college’s history (remember when we carried that title?) bringing in 635 students from 32 states, the District of Columbia, and 33 countries.
On and off-campus, this upcoming year shows no sign of slowing down, with Beatlemore Skidmania returning to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles first recording and more regional alumni groups popping up across the country to add to already thriving groups in cities across the Nation.  Have you attended a Skidmore event in your area?  If not, I would encourage you to do.  Information about regional events can be found on Skidmore's Alumni Web page: http://www.skidmore.edu/alumni/
